Physical Geography

Page history last edited by Lisa Chaddock 7 years, 8 months ago

Physical Geography 101 Syllabus for Fall 2016 is found on Blackboard or Canvas, ichever the school decides to use.

The class is S 116, and is theater style seating.   I cannot add chairs to the room, so I am confined to the number of students I can add to the course.

  • I will take crashers by taking all the people on the Wait List FIRST.
  • If there are any other openings, I will then allow for crashers.  Since this will be for the first week, if you are crashing the class, please note that it could be the second day of class before you get an add code.
  • THAT SAID, I will still insist that you were in class from the first day of class to be allowed in the course.  AGAIN - if you were not there on the first day of class, I will not give you an add code on the second day of class.

Books:

Exploring Physical Geography, by Reynolds, et al, McMillan Publishing

San Diego: An Introduction to the Region, 4th Edition, Ed. by Pryde,Pearson Custom Publishing OPTIONAL

San Diego Geography by Phillip R. Pryde (about $25 and worth every penny - you'll probably end up keeping it if you stay here.)  It is optional this semester, as there may or may not be enough copies left of this book.  The new edition is in the works, but not out yet.

The Physical Geography coursebook for this class has all of the printouts so that you don't have to spend your cash doing individual copies.  It's easy, and a lot cheaper at about $5. The Blackboard for the course is available with files that can be downloaded.  However, if you purchase this book at the bookstore, it is not only cheaper but you can use your financial aid to purchase it.

Although you may be able to purchase these through the bookstore, if you would prefer to print these at home, this is an alternative:

Extra Credit: In our shaky Southern California, I'd do these if I were you:

For Extra Credit, print these out, fill them in, then show them to me in class.  It is worth 10 points.

Field Trip Worksheets:

There are a number of Field Trips available, as well as those on http://www.ted.com for viewing.  You are required to do 2 field trips, and these are considerably more fun than watching a video.  These can be done on your own time, and are fill in the blank forms.
